Compressed air is used to blow the bottles/containers to the desired shape and size. A major problem in compressed air systems is the presence of water, dust particles, oil (oils particles are introduced by lubricated air compressors) and solid contaminants which can adversely affect air quality.

Compressed air is widely used in most pneumatic applications in PET/ Plastics industry. Compressed air is used to blow the bottles/containers to the desired shape and size. A major problem in compressed air systems is the presence of water, dust particles, oil (oils particles are introduced by lubricated air compressors) and solid contaminants which can adversely affect air quality. Moisture in compressed air may lead to the following problems :

  • Loss of clarity i.e. clouding of plastic bottles/containers
  • Loss of strength of plastic bottles/containers
  • Contamination of plastic resin
  • Internal bubbles or pockmarks in the bottles/containers
